According to the Holiday Calendar of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), the banks will remain closed for a total of 21 days in October 2025. Apart from weekends, it also includes state-specific holidays. Yes, from national holidays to local festivals, banks will be closed on different days in every state. The bank holiday schedule of October 2025 is the beginning of the month. On October 1, Wednesday, the conclusion of Navratri, Maha Navami, Dussehra, Ayudh Puja and Vijayadashami/Durga Puja (Dasain) will remain closed in many states. The next day, the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi Jayanti, Dussehra, Vijaya Dashami, Durga Puja (Dasain) and Sri Sri Shankardev will be celebrated on 2 October, Thursday. 25 October, Saturday fourth Saturday weekly holiday, and 26 October, Sunday. Why will the banks be closed for 21 days?

If seen, 15 days out of these 21 days are the holidays declared by the RBI, which fall under the Negotiable Instruments Act, Real Time Gross Settlement (RTGS) holidays and bank accounts closing. The remaining 6 days are regular weekly holidays-such as Sundays (5, 12, 19, 26 October) and second-fourth Saturday (11, 25 October).
