Bollywood superstars and their brand value: Who tops the pecking order? Know here

Kolkata: Filmstars have become marketing vehicles. Bollywood’s biggest stars have started earning pots of money from endorsements and investments in firms including startups. A recent study by Kroll, US-based global financial advisory firm, has revealed that Ranveer Singh topped the pecking order in 2024 with a value of Rs 1,423.8 crore. “Ranveer Singh continues to be the top Bollywood star by brand value. He has become the face of diverse endorsements. This unique blend of stardom and strategy cements his position among the industry’s most renowned stars,” Umakanta Panigrahi, MD, Valuation Advisory Services, Kroll was quoted in the media as saying.

The significance of the brand value study lies in the fact that the value of a star might not be linked to any success on screen in the recent past. Ranveer Singh’s last significant film was Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani in 2023 and since then he did not have any successful stint in the box office. Kroll said the brand value of Singh in 2022, 2023 and 2024 stood at $181.7 million, $203.1 million and $170.7 crore respectively. The number of endorsements he did in these three years were also recorded — 46.5 (2022), 50.3 (2023) and 45.3 (2024).

Which Bollywood stars come at second and third position?

Kroll has also quantified the brand value of four superstars — Shah Rukh Khan, Alia Bhatt, Akshay Kumar, and Deepika Padukone. The figures reveal that Ranveer Singh had a substantial lead over them in both income and cumber of endorsements.

Ranveer Singh’s key to success

Film analysts told the media that Ranveer Singh has the remarkable ability to strike a chord with the younger audience as well as the masses. And this prompts many firms/marketers to sign him to tap his hold over them. Zomato, Ching’s and Bold Care are a few of the recent examples. According to the survey, Singh endorsed more than 45 brands last year — at least 50% more than the other superstars. He has shown acumen in investments too. Singh has recently taken 50% stake in Elite Mindset, a packaged foods start-up.
