Ranchi: Ankit Raj, son of former minister Yogendra Saw and brother of former MLA Amba Prasad from Barkagaon, was issued 204 challans by the District Mining Office only for carrying sand, but about 1294 trip carts were carried out by the Hiva and truck. This was revealed by checking the seized register from Ankit Raj’s whereabouts. The ED found in the investigation that the DMO office had issued only 27 challans from the vehicle number JH02X-6528 for the transportation of sand, while 177 challans were issued for sand transportation from the second vehicle number JH02 AU-6681. In the course of investigation, it was also confirmed that no challan was issued for sand transportation from January to June in 2022. Even after that, sand was carried through Hiva. Through the illegal trade of this sand, Ankit Raj had done a money laundering of Rs 3.12 crore. In this case, the ED has seized other property including his land in the east.

The ED investigation has revealed that Ankit Raj used family political dominance for the illegal business of his sand. He also threatened people involved in the illegal business of sand. The ED has recorded the statement of the driver of the tractor in order to investigate. The driver of the tractor told the ED in his statement that the load sand was caught in the tractor in the past. This sand used to run only at the behest of Ankit Raj. Investigation also revealed that in the past the police had caught eight illegal tractors, but Ankit Raj used his political influence to saffron the sand load tractor from the police station. The ED found in the investigation that Ankit Raj used the influence of former Barkagaon MLA and his sister Amba Prasad to influence the officers, so that he could do illegal business of sand.

The ED has found in the investigation that Ankit Raj used to get sand per vehicle for Rs 6000-7000. He had prepared a syndicate for this task. Its mastermind himself was Ankit Raj, while Manoj Kumar Aggarwal, Pancham Kumar, Sanjeev Kumar, Manoj Prasad Dangi, Anil Kumar and Bindeshwar Kumar Dangi used to work as an associate in his syndicate prepared for illegal business of sand. ED has seized several other property including Ankit Raj’s land in the east.
