Important pillars of Atal-Advani era Prof. Vijay Kumar Malhotra dies at the age of 94, wave of mourning in BJP

New Delhi. The first president of Delhi BJP and senior leader Prof. Vijay Kumar Malhotra (Prof. Vijay Kumar Malhotra) has died on Tuesday, 30 September at the age of 94. He breathed his last during treatment at Delhi AIIMS. From Jan Sangh Era to BJP’s rise, Prof. Malhotra was an important role of BJP and Delhi politics.

He was deeply with veterans like former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee (Former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee) and senior BJP leader LK Advani (BJP Leader LK Advani). Whether the organization is to expand or talk of ideological commitment, it remained the most important pillar of the Atal-Advani era. He was elected five times MPs and two -time MLA, and also played his responsibility as a Deputy Leader of the BJP Parliamentary Party in the Lok Sabha.

Malhotra started his political beginning with the Bharatiya Jana Sangh in the 1960s when he spread the ideology of the Sangh in Delhi at the ground level. He left the RSS and joined the Jana Sangh, where Vajpayee’s poetic vision and Advani’s organizational skill became a strong pillar.

A memorable event is in the 1960s-70s when the Delhi Metropolitan Council used to sit in Advani’s front office in Malhotra’s government bungalow. In an important meeting held at his house, a list of DMC Alderman along with Kedarnath Sahni and Madanlal Khurana was prepared, which laid the foundation for Advani’s political rise. He was a founding member in the formation of BJP in 1980 and became the first president of the Delhi unit. Ram Janmabhoomi Movement made active contribution under Advani, while the Vajpayee government supported national unity and development plans.

In young age, all three shared social moments like discussion, film watching, chaat food and celebrating Holi. As a deputy leader in the Lok Sabha, he made the BJP’s opposition role effective, especially after 2004, where he was also the Speaker of the Public Accounts Committee.

Apart from politics, Malhotra was a PhD holder in Hindi literature and inspired the youth by joining Delhi University. His contribution to sports administration was unforgettable as Senior Vice President of the Indian Olympic Association led the Indian contingent at the 1974 Asian Games, and strengthened the Archery and Chase Federation.

As social workers and journalists, he promoted health, education and sports, which gave direction to millions of youth. Pro.
