UPI New Rule 2025: Big news for millions of UPI users. The National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) has changed the UPI rules. From October 1, 2025, the P2P 'Collect Request' feature, also known as Pull Transaction, will be discontinued. This means you will no longer be able to send a 'Collect Request' to anyone to ask for money on apps like PhonePe, Gpay, or PayTM. This step has been taken to prevent online fraud and strengthen user security.
What is the new UPI rule?
NPCI has directed all banks and payment apps to discontinue the P2P Collect Request system from October 1, 2025. This simply means that after this date, no user will be able to send or receive a Collect Request on UPI. Now, only direct transfers will be possible, making the payment process more secure.
Why was this decision taken?
The Collect Request feature was being misused by fraudsters. Many times, users mistakenly or mistakenly approved collect requests, resulting in money being deducted from their accounts. By taking this step, NPCI has ensured that the money transfer process is now user-initiated, reducing the possibility of fraud.
What Users Need to Do Now
Users who were used to sending collect requests will now need to use the Push Transaction option directly. Payments through QR codes, UPI IDs, and bank account numbers will continue as before. NPCI also advises users to keep their UPI and banking apps updated and never approve requests from unknown individuals.
What Will Be Affected and What Won't
This change will only affect the Collect Request feature. Normal money sending and receiving will continue as before. Banks and payment apps have been instructed to make changes to their systems to allow users to easily complete transactions in accordance with the new regulations.
