On the auspicious occasion of Vijayadashami, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi shopped with his family at the Bayanika handloom store run by the state government. On this occasion, he greeted the people of Vijayadashami and appealed to adopt ‘Vocal for Local’.

The Chief Minister said that on this auspicious day, I wish everyone a happy Vijayadashami. This festival is a symbol of the victory of truth and justice. I pray to Maa Durga to fill every house with strength and prosperity.

The Chief Minister further said that on the day of Vijayadashami, there is also the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi and Lal Bahadur Shastri. Gandhiji always talked about indigenous and self -sufficiency. Recalling his ideology, Chief Minister Majhi appealed to all the Odia people to adopt and support the handicrafts, handlooms and local products of their state.

He said that as the head of the state, I also shopped with my family from Bayenika today. This is not just a purchase, but a message.

Let us all pledge to wear and use khadi and handloom at least one day a week. This will not only strengthen our artisans, but Odisha and India will take a concrete step towards self -reliance.

At the same time, CM posted some pictures of the shopping on his X handle and wrote that today on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti, the family got a chance to go to Bayanika and buy some beautiful handloom products. Gandhiji always emphasized indigenous and self -reliance.

We all adopt their ideals together and support our local artisans and weavers. I urge you all to become indigenous, become vocal for local, buy local products and preserve your rich handicraft and handloom tradition.
