Paytm has recently introduced a new feature for their users. This allows you to create your own Custom UPI ID. This means that users can now create their own Custom UPI ID that will easily remember them. After Paytm, Google Pay and PhonePe are also working on applying these features. This allows users to hide your phone number or email ID while dealing with. If you also want to create a Custom UPI ID, you can do it by following the steps below.

Is Google Pay available too?

According to some media reports, Google Pay allows their users to change their UPI ID, just like Paytm. Launching this feature earlier this month, Paytm said that using a custom ID would maintain the user’s privacy. It also creates a unique digital identity. Paytm describes that it is safe, saying it can prevent events such as harassment and chase. This feature makes digital transactions more secure.

Support in these banks

Initially, this feature was only working at Yes Bank and Axis Bank. However, IDs can now be replaced by HDFC Bank and SBI.

You will not see your phone number and email id

If the Paytm user changes their ID, their phone number or email ID is replaced with the Custom Alphanumeric text. After that, “@PT (bank name)) is written. This new ID keeps the user’s identity confidential.

How to create a Custom UPI ID?

To create a Custom UPI ID with Paytm, you will first have to open the Paytm app on your phone.

Then tap the profile icon on the left.

Go to UPI and payment settings and click on the “Sponsored UPI ID” option.

A sheet will open. You can enter your choice ID here or select any ID from the list.

Then click on Confirm. That way, ID can be easily changed.

Hopefully, this option will soon be available on Phone and Google Pay.
