India’s leading credit card issuer, SBI Cardhas announced significant changes to its fee structure starting November 1, 2025affecting select transactions such as education payments and wallet loads. At the same time, the company will continue its enhanced reward point benefits for online shopping.
1% Fee on Education Payments via Third-Party Platforms
From November, SBI Card users will be charged a 1% transaction fee when making education- payments through third-party apps or platforms. However, payments made directly to schools or colleges — either through their official websites or POS (Point of Sale) machines — will not attract this fee.
This change aims to streamline transaction costs while encouraging direct payments to educational institutions.
Wallet Load Transactions Over ₹1,000 to Attract Fee
In another key update, SBI Card will introduce a 1% charge on wallet load transactions exceeding ₹1,000. This will impact users who frequently top up digital wallets using their SBI credit cards — a move likely aimed at discouraging excessive wallet usage for cashback or points arbitrage.
Reward Points on Ajio and JioMart to Continue
On a positive note, SBI Card will continue rewarding online shoppers. Since October 1, 2025customers earn 20 reward points per ₹100 spent on Ajio and Jiomart using the Reliance SBI Card PRIMEwhile other SBI Card users get 10 points per ₹100. These rewards are valid only for purchases made directly on the platformssubject to terms and conditions.
Additional Plan Updates
Separately, SBI Card also confirmed that CPP (Card Protection Plan) customers were migrated to updated plan variants from September 16, 2025featuring revised benefits and pricing based on renewal schedules.

- Review your payment methods: Avoid third-party platforms for education- payments to sidestep additional charges.
- Monitor wallet transactions: Be mindful of top-ups exceeding ₹1,000 to avoid extra fees.
- Maximize rewards: Use your SBI Card on Ajio and Jiomart to continue earning accelerated reward points.
