
Wayanad Tragedy 2024: In July last year, the Wayanad tragedy of Kerala shook the entire country. Many houses were destroyed in sudden floods and landslides after late night rains. More than 400 people were killed in this disaster. Now after more than a year, politics has started to heat up with the Wayanad tragedy. From here, Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra has accused the central government of doing politics on relief and rehabilitation to the victims.

Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi on Saturday wrote on the social media platform X, ‘Wayanad people faced a devastating tragedy that required compassion, fairness and immediate relief. Kerala requested ₹ 2221 crore for reconstruction of life after landslides, but the central government approved only ₹ 260 crore – which is a small fraction of the need. The people of Wayanad, who had lost their home, livelihood and loved ones, were expecting meaningful assistance, especially after the Prime Minister’s visit. Instead, he was neglected. “
Priyanka further wrote, ‘Relief and rehabilitation will have to rise above politics. Human pain cannot be considered a political opportunity, and the people of Wayanad are not entitled to anything less than justice, support and respect. ‘ Let us know that in Wayanad, Kerala, on the night of July 29, suddenly hundreds of houses were destroyed in such a terrible natural disaster and the work of finding the bodies of people buried in the debris continued for several days. More than 400 people died in this disaster.
