At a fan meeting on Sept. 24, Hsu Kuang-han, also known as Greg Hsu, said his schedule left little time to explore local cuisine, but he hoped to return for more.
That evening, he managed to dine at two restaurants in the city center.
He and 20 crew members ate at Mandarine, a Vietnamese restaurant at 11A Ngo Van Nam Street in Ben Thanh Ward. The group had requested a private dining room on the second floor. Staff only realized Hsu was among the guests when he arrived, drawing the attention of fans who filmed and photographed the scene.

The meal was tailored to Hsu’s request for dishes with minimal oil. The menu included spring rolls, herb-grilled pork ribs, and steamed vegetables, averaging about VND1 million (US$38) per person. The dinner ended after one and half hour at around 10:15 p.m.
Soon after, the group moved to SOL Pho at 27 Hai Trieu Street, opposite the Bitexco Tower. Three staff arrived first, with Hsu joining about 30 minutes later. The group of more than 10 sat at three tables. Since the reservation was under a manager’s name without mention of Hsu, staff did not recognize him.
Wearing masks and sitting in a corner, the actor and his entourage blended in. Only one nearby table noticed, but they waited until after the meal to ask for photos outside.

“About 10 minutes after Hsu arrived, people realized who he was. Everyone was excited but remained professional,” a restaurant representative said.
Hsu ordered stone-bowl pho, while some of his team chose stir-fried beef pho. Prices at the restaurant range from VND200,000 to VND500,000 ($7.60 – $19) per bowl.
“The whole group seemed satisfied. The meal took place in a relaxed atmosphere,” the representative said.
On Sept. 25, the actor’s team continued to Singapore before returning to Taipei for a film premiere on Sept. 29.

Ho Chi Minh City has recently become a stop for international stars. In June, Big Bang member Daesung visited fans in the city, explored local food, and shopped at markets.
