Aadhaar card is one of the most important identity documents in India. It is extensively used for government services banking telecom and many other purposes. Given that it is linked to one’s mobile number PAN and many financial services it is vital to ensure information is accurate and updated. When will the new Aadhaar update charges come into effect? Often we update our Aadhaar Card. However now updating ones Aadhaar card will cost more. The UIDAI has changed the fees which will be effective from October 1 2025. It will be valid until September 30 2028. The different revised rates will apply until September 30 2031 during phase two of the new rates starting from October 1 2028. What is the new fee for updating Aadhaar details? With the introduction of new fees services that once had minimal costs such as name address or date of birth changes are now more expensive while biometric changes now include additional in-person appointment fees. Updating Aadhaar information for children under certain age milestones remains free ensuring that families and guardians meet the requirement without financial hardship. Residents should plan to make updates as needed using online updated online portals whenever applicable and have a clearer understanding of the new fees in order to limit unnecessary costs while keeping their Aadhaar particulars accurate and up-to-date for obtaining essential services. The charges for services that were previously priced at Rs 50 will now be Rs 75. Services that were previously charged at Rs 100 will now be charged at Rs 125. Services priced at Rs 75 will be increased to ₹90 and services charged at Rs 125 will be increased to Rs 150 in the next phase on 1 October 2028. or a person who wishes to change their registered biometrics such as fingerprints iris and photo different fees will apply. Upgrades will be free for one time between the ages of 5 and 7 years old. Likewise 15 to 17 year olds will be eligible for free upgrades. All other circumstances are subject to a fee of ₹125 but to encourage getting the upgrade completed in a timely manner this will be waived for children aged 7 to 15 until 30 September 2026. S.
