WhatsApp has now launched a group voice chat feature for its users, making it easier to instantly communicate within a group. This feature differs from other group calls in that it doesn't ring for all members, and they can join or leave at will. It can be used as a live chat room within a group, allowing members to discuss without having to call everyone.

To start a group voice chat, open the group you want to chat in and tap the Voice Chat button (waveform icon) in the top right. Then click Start Voice Chat. Once the chat starts, group members will receive a notification, but it won't ring like a call. The names of those who join the chat will appear in a banner at the bottom of the screen.

Note that voice chats can only be started on the primary device. Members who haven't joined the chat can still see the profiles of active members in the chat header or the Calls tab.

If you want to mute notifications for group messages or calls, this option is available in the Group Info settings. Voice chats automatically end if no members join for 60 minutes or if the last member leaves. To exit the chat, tap the AI Voice Mute icon with a microphone.

The difference between regular group calls and group voice chats is that while regular group calls ring for all members, group voice chats don't ring, and people can join or leave at will.

How many people can be connected at once?
A maximum of 32 people can join a voice chat. Data usage is the same as a regular call, and you'll see an indication of this in the header when the chat is active.
