Cash App settlement 2025: Cash App users in Washington could soon see a little extra money in their accounts due to a $12.5 million class action settlement, as per a report. The payout comes after the company agreed to resolve claims that it violated state law by sending unsolicited referral texts to users’ contacts, as per The Sun report.

To qualify for the settlement payment, individuals must have received a Cash App referral text between November 14, 2019, and August 7, 2025, while living in Washington, as per The Sun report. While, users who had previously given clear consent to receive these messages are not eligible, according to the report.

Cash App settlement deadline and process to file a claim

Eligible users must submit a claim by October 27 to receive their payment, as per the report. Claims can be filed online or by mail through the Bottoms Text Settlement website, as reported by The Sun. Users will need to provide the phone number that received the referral text, though there is an option to note if the number is no longer accessible, according to The Sun report.

Cash App’s response to the allegations

Cash App, operated by Block Inc, maintained in court filings that it did not provide “substantial assistance” to the app's users sending texts through the “Invite Friends” feature, as reported by The Sun. The firm said in court filings“Block did not initiate or assist in the transmission of a text message to Plaintiff and/or others alleged to be members of the putative class,” as per the report.
