Aadhaar Card Free Biometric Update: The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has taken a big decision regarding the children’s Aadhaar card update. Now the biometric update of the Aadhaar card of 5 to 17 year old children has been completely made free. This decision will provide great relief to millions of parents across the country. According to UIDAI, this new feature has started from 1 October 2025 and will continue for the next one year. About 6 crore children are expected to get direct benefit from this. Why is the bayometric update necessary? The Aadhaar cards of children under 5 years of age are made only on the basis, date of birth, address and photo. Fingerprints and iris scans of children of this age are not taken as they are not fully developed. However, the first biometric update (MBU-1) is mandatory to get the second biometric update (MBU-2) between the age of 15 and 17 after completing the age of 5 years. Earlier this update used to cost Rs 125 every time, but now this process has been made free. What are the benefits for the mother-father? Aadhaar card is very important for admission in school, availing government schemes and identity verification. Earlier Aadhaar updates had heavy expenses and long queues. Now this new decision will provide relief to parents from financial burden and trouble. How and where will the update will be? Children’s Aadhaar updates can be done at Aadhaar service centers and prescribed updates across the country. Parents will have to take the child’s Aadhaar card, birth certificate or other important documents. Here the child’s fingerprints, iris scans and photographs will be taken back.
