India’s fire in World Para Athletics Championship, Vice President appreciated players

India’s Historic Performance World Para Athletics Championships: Vice President C.P. Radhakrishnan praised the brilliant performance of Indian Para Athletes in the ‘World Para Athletics Championship 2025′. In this competition held at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, India created history by winning a total of 22 medals. With this achievement, the Indian party finished 10th in the medal table. The Vice President praised the players’ hard work, dedication and passion, saying that he has illuminated the name of the country and the demonstration reflects the increasing levels and possibilities of para sports in India.

Vice President CP Radhakrishnan praised the Indian players on the social media platform ‘X’. He said that “Congratulations to Team India for the historic performance in the World Para Athletics Championship 2025. Our para-athletes have inspired the country with their passion, spirits and determination with a record of 22 medals on domestic soil.”

Further, the Vice President said that “This is a glorious achievement for the country. It lays a strong foundation for the future development of Para Games in India. I hope that this achievement will further strengthen our efforts towards inclusion and excellence in sports. In the World Para Athletics Championships 2025, India has made 6 gold, 9 silver and 7 Brahmas in the top-1, while the top-1st is found in the top-1. Brazil topped the medal table with 44 medals. Athletes of Brazil won 15 gold, 20 silver and 9 bronze medals.

China finished second with a total of 52 medals (13 Gold, 22 Silver and 17 Bronze), while Iran won the third position with 9 Gold, 2 Silver and 5 Bronze medals. It was the largest para game in India, in which Indian athletes made seven Asian Records with three championship records. During this time more than 30 players performed individual best.

In the World Para Athletics Championship 2025, more than 1,000 athletes from 104 countries participated in 186 medal events. It had 101 men, 84 female and a mixed competition. In the World Para Athletics Championship, India has so far won a total of 67 medals with 19 gold, 24 silver and 24 bronze medals.
