The former cricketer also pointed out that Harmanpreet’s lack of runs could affect the team’s overall chances.

Aakash Chopra has mentioned that Harmanpreet Kaur is likely to feel pressure during the ongoing World Cup, knowing this could be her final appearance in the tournament. The Indian captain has faced a tough start, accumulating just 40 runs in her first two matches.

Although Harmanpreet has got starts, she has struggled to build on them and turn her innings into substantial scores. The Indian batting line-up has also been erratic during the tournament. After India’s win over Pakistan, Chopra told Star Sports that Harmanpreet is likely to feel the pressure, particularly given her role as captain.

“There will be pressure. For one, she’s the captain. This is her fifth World Cup, and this could be her final appearance. It’s quite unlikely she will play in the next ODI World Cup,” Chopra said.

The former cricketer also pointed out that Harmanpreet’s lack of runs could affect the team’s overall chances.

“If other players are also making starts but failing to convert them into big scores, you might say everything is fine publicly, but deep down, you know you need to step up. When the captain isn’t scoring runs or leading from the front, it weakens the team. The captain has to perform, and she will certainly be feeling some pressure,” Chopra explained

India’s next match in the Women’s World Cup will be against South Africa on October 9.
