Pakistan batter Sidra Amin has been reprimanded for breaching level 1 of the ICC Code of Conduct during the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025 clash against India in Colombo on October 05.
India secured a dominating 88-run victory against Pakistan on the back of a clinical bowling performance, successfully defending their 247-run total.
Amin was found guilty of breaching Article 2.2 of the Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel. The clause relates to the “abuse of cricket equipment or clothing, ground equipment or fixtures and fitting during an International Match.”
The incident occured in the 40th over of Pakistan’s chase when Sidra Amin was visibly seen frustrated after being dismissed, struck her bat forcefully onto the pitch. Her actions though brief, were deemed to have breached the spirit and expectations of the game.
Following the offence, Sidra was handed an official reprimand and had one demerit point added to her disciplinary record. This marks her first offence within 24 months.
According to the ICC regulations, Level 1 breaches carry penalties ranging from an official reprimand to a maximum fine of 50 percent of a player’s match fee, along with the addition of one or two demerit points.
The charge was levelled by the on-field umpires Lauren Agenbag and Nimali Perera, supported by third umpire Kerrin Klaaste and fourth umpire Kim Cotton. Sidra admitted the offence and accepted the sanction proposed by match referee Shandre Fritz of the Emirates ICC International Panel.
As a result, no formal hearing is needed. Despite the disciplinary action, Sidra was Pakistan’s standout performer with the bat, producing a valiant 81 runs from 106 deliveries.
Coming in at No.3 she held Pakistan’s batting together showing resistance against Indian attack. However her efforts fell short as he got dismissed for 81 runs, succumbing to their second defeat in the tournament.
When Sidra Amin’s knock stood as one of the finest knocks of the contest, a lack of support from the middle and lower order meant the side never came close to threatening India’s dominant total.
Pakistan suffered two straight loses in the ongoing ODI World Cup and will be playing their next game against Australia women on October 08 at R. Premadasa Stadium.
