South African opener Tazmin Brits became the first player to score five centuries in a calendar year in Women’s ODI cricket.

The 34-year-old Brits achieved the feat during her side’s win over New Zealand in the Women’s ODI World Cup in Indore on Monday.

Brits hammered an 87-ball century becoming only the third South African to score an ODI World Cup century after Linda Olivier and Marizanne Kapp.

In the process, Brits overtook Indian batter Smriti Mandhana’s tally of four ODI hundreds in a year, which she has achieved twice – in 2024 and 2025.

Brits is also now the fastest to seven hundreds in the format (41 innings), bettering Australian legend Meg Lanning’s tally (44).
