
Homemade Food Plate Price: The price of vegetarian and non -vegetarian plate made in the house during September was reduced by 10 percent and 6 percent respectively as compared to the same month of the previous year, amid a steep fall in commodity prices. These figures have been given in a report released by Crisil on Tuesday. The report said that the price of vegetarian plate declined due to a steep fall in the prices of vegetables and pulses.
Potato prices declined by 31 percent due to stock dumping by cold storage units, while over supply, tomato prices declined by 8 percent on an annual basis.
Bangladesh’s contribution to India’s onion exports
According to the report, onion prices have declined by 46 percent on an annual basis due to increase in domestic supply due to excess supply of Rabi in the market and recession in imports from Bangladesh. Bangladesh contributes 40 percent to India’s onion exports. At the same time, due to increase in imports of Bengal gram, yellow peas and black gram, the prices of pulses have declined by 16 percent. These imports have been allowed by March 2026 to reduce prices for consumers.
6% growth in LPG cylinder prices
However, in the beginning of the festive season, the high demand increased the price of vegetable oil by 21 percent on an annual basis and the price of LPG cylinders on an annual basis increased the total cost of plates. The decline in the price of non -vegetarian plate remained relatively slow, as broiler prices declined by 1 percent on an annual basis, about 50 percent of its cost. At the same time, low prices of vegetables and pulses supported this decline.
Crisil Intelligence Director Pushish Sharma said that later onion prices can be seen in the moderate period, as kharif transplanting has been delayed due to excessive rainfall in major producing states like Karnataka and Maharashtra in August and September.
Possibility of increase in tomato prices
Pushkar Sharma said that apart from this, if heavy rains affect the onion or standing kharif crop stored in October, the prices may be additional pressure.
