
A fire has erupted at a block of flats in Middleton, with emergency services rushing to the scene. The fire could be seen raging on the top floor of the building on Baguley Crescent. Several fire engines were on the scene.
A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) said: "At 9.45am on Tuesday, October 7, four fire engines from Heywood, Chadderton, Whitefield and Manchester Central fire stations plus the turntable ladder from Manchester Central fire station were called to a fire involving a derelict second floor flat on Baguley Crescent, Middleton.
"Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used hose reels to extinguish the fire and make the area safe. Crews remain in attendance."
There were understood to have been no injuries.
