In a surprising twist, the Karnataka State Pollution Control Board (KSPCB) has ordered an electricity disconnection at the Bigg Boss Kannada production site over serious environmental violations . For fans and insiders, this comes as a major hiccup for season 12, one of Karnataka’s most-watched shows.
What happened?
The issue centres on the Bigg Boss set at Jolly Wood Studios & Adventures in Bidadi Hobli, just outside Bengaluru. The KSPCB claims that untreated wastewater from the premises has been released into the surroundings, worsening environmental damage in the area. Though the production team claims a 250 KLD sewage treatment plant (STP) is in place, a board inspection found it unused and unconnected, raising questions about its effectiveness
KSPCB cites environmental breaches, producers say discussions underway
KSPCB issued a closure order to the occupier of the land hosting the reality show for “breaching environmental norms and conducting illegal activities,” Member Secretary Lingaraja SS confirmed to
Bangalore Times. The notice cited poor drainage, unsegregated waste, and diesel generator use. The board ordered the immediate suspension of operations and directed BESCOM to cut power until compliance is achieved. Meanwhile, a spokesperson from Colors Kannada told us, “A discussion regarding this is on with the concerned agencies and organisations. We would not comment further at this time.”
