Amazon Pay (India), the digital payments arm of ecommerce giant Amazon, has reported almost a 9% drop in its standalone revenue from operations to Rs 2,096 crore in fiscal year 2025. Its losses have narrowed slightly to Rs 865 crore from Rs 911 crore.
Total expenses of the Bengaluru-based firm fell to Rs 3,060 crore in FY25, compared to Rs 3,280 crore in the previous financial year. Its employee benefits declined marginally to Rs 213 crore in FY25 from Rs 216 crore.
ET reported that Amazon has infused Rs 350 crore into the company in April this year, as it plans to expand its presence in the Indian payments space.
Amazon Pay's major competitors in the digital payments space are Google Pay and PhonePe, which dominate the market. It competes in various services, including bill payments, Unified Payments Interface (UPI) transactions, wealth management, ticket booking, and insurance premium payments. In August, the payment firm reported a total of 98 million UPI transactions and settled around Rs 10,830 crore.
The fintech arm has partnered with the likes of BookMyShow, MakeMyTrip, RedBus, IRCTC, and Kuvera for services such as movie and travel ticketing and wealth management.
The company received its payment aggregator (PA) license from the regulator Reserve Bank of India (RBI) in February 2024. The PA license followed the company's earlier approval for a prepaid payment instrument (PPI) or wallet license.
