Veteran actress Indira Krishna , known for her powerful performances in films like Tere Naam and Animal, and iconic TV shows such as Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii, Krishnadasi, and Krishnaben Khakhrawala, has once again returned to television with Ganga Mai Ki Betiyan . The actress, who plays the role of Durgawati in the show, spoke about embracing television even as she juggles two much-awaited Bollywood projects — Ranbir Kapoor’s Ramayana and Sonakshi Sinha and Sudheer Babu starrer Jatadhara.
Opening up about her decision, Indira shared, “I have never set any boundaries for myself. I’m open to working in Bollywood movies, TV shows, and OTT projects. In simple words, I’m always up for good work. When I was approached for the role of Durgawati, I was influenced by the narration and the story. For a change, we are shooting in Punjab, and the story of the show is excellent. I feel the audience is also loving it — we enjoyed a great opening in TRPs.”
The actress, known for her versatile acting and grounded persona, further explained her approach toward choosing roles. “I’m looking forward to doing good work as I have always stuck to my hard work. I have never seen TRPs as my consistency in the industry. It is always the character that my audience resonates with. So I have always prioritized that while taking up any work,” she added.
Previously seen as Pani Bai in Durga, Indira received immense love for her performance, even though the show went off-air. Now, with Ganga Mai Ki Betiyan, she’s once again capturing hearts, proving that true artistry knows no medium — whether it’s film, television, or OTT.
