New Delhi. Former Team India player Manoj Tiwari has made a big charge on the current head coach Gautam Gambhir. Tiwari says that after Gambhir became the coach, such an atmosphere was created in the team that forced senior players like Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma and R Ashwin to take retirement soon. Within the last one year, these three players said goodbye to different format from international cricket. Ashwin said goodbye to international cricket during the tour of Australia, while Rohit and Kohli announced his retirement from Test cricket in May 2025 just before the England tour.

Manoj Tiwari said, ‘If senior players like Ashwin, Rohit or Virat are present in the team, then these people also raise questions on the experience of experience. Perhaps this is why it was ensured that these players should not stay in the team. Tiwari further said that many controversies have come up since Gambhir became coaches. He said, ‘Ever since he became coaches, many things have changed. There have been many disputes. I think what is happening is not a good sign for Indian cricket.

Tiwari said that since Gambhir became a coach, there is a constant instability regarding selection and decisions. He said, ‘Sometimes a player is being added to the squad suddenly and is being given a chance immediately in the playing XI. Many decisions lack continuity. This is not right for the atmosphere of the team. He also indirectly accused Gambhir that he wanted to avoid the influence of senior players so that his words are not challenged.

Recalling the achievements of both senior players, Manoj Tiwari said, ‘Virat and Rohit have brought Indian cricket to new heights. These players have always played heartily for the team. But if the atmosphere becomes such that they feel that they are no longer needed, then they themselves retreat.

Tiwari said that if Gautam Gambhir does not include Virat and Rohit in their plans for the upcoming 2027 World Cup, it would be a big mistake. He said, ‘If Gambhir keeps these two veterans out of the World Cup scheme, then it will be a wrong step for Indian cricket. There is no break of these two in white ball cricket.
