Nepal: The top election body of Nepal approved the program of the Representative Assembly elections to be held on 5 March on Monday. The Election Commission said in a statement that in the approved timetable, all the major procedures including registration, voting and counting have been given.

Registration for elections from 16 to 26 November

As per the scheduled schedule, political parties will have to register for elections from 16 to 26 November. Any new political party will have to register by 15 November.

Elections will be held on 5 March 2026

Political parties will be allowed to conduct their election campaign for a period of 15 days from 15 February to 2 March. It says that parties will have to submit their list on January 2 and 3, 2026 for proportional elections. Voting will be held on March 5, 2026 from 7 am to 5 pm. After the accumulation of ballot boxes, counting will take place on the same day.

The Commission said that its goal is to ensure independent, fair and transparent elections through timely preparations and effective coordination between stakeholders. President Ramchandra Paudel dissolved the House of Representatives and announced the date of new elections on 12 September. Interim Prime Minister Sushila Karki has said that her government is committed to conducting general elections on time.
