The biggest change in UPI so far, PIN's mess is over! Now payment will be made with face and fingers

Now UPI payment will be done from biometric!

There is going to be a big change in India's digital payment ecosystem. The way of paying the Unified Payments Interface ie UPI, which is used by crores of Indians every day, is going to change forever. Now you will not need to remember and put a pin of 4 or 6 digits while paying. According to an Economics Times report, from October 8, users will be able to approve UPI payment through their face (facial recognition) and fingerprint. This step will not only make the payment process faster and easier, but can also make it more secure than ever.

Experts say that this will prove to be a milestone in India's digital journey, where your identity will become your password. National payment corporation of india (NPCI), which operates the UPI network, is planning to display this state -of -the -art facility at the ongoing Global Fintech Festival in Mumbai. Although NPCI has not commented on it yet, but according to sources all the preparations to implement this new technology have been completed.

How will this new technology work?

This new biometric certification system will be completely based on the unique identification system of the Government of India 'Aadhaar'. One of the sources clarified that when a user would use his face or fingerprint for payment, it will be verified by biometric data stored with the base. This means that only the person will be able to approve the payment, whose bank account and Upi The ID is connected to his Aadhaar card.

This process will be very simple. When paying, the user must choose the option of biometric authentication instead of putting a pin. After this, the camera or fingerprint scanner of the phone will be activated. After a successful scan, the data will be safely sent to the Aadhaar server to match and the payment will be successful immediately as soon as it is matched. This entire process will be completed in a few seconds, so that the experience of payment will become easy and obstructed. This step will be especially beneficial for those who have difficulty in remembering their PIN or who are additional vigilant about safety.

Why did this change need?

This step of inclusion of biometric authentication in UPI has not been taken suddenly. This is the direct result of the recently issued guidelines by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI). RBI had allowed alternative methods of certification to promote security and innovation in payment systems. The central bank aims to make digital payments more user-friendly and safe, so that more and more people can adopt it.

The current PIN-based system, although a large extent safe, has some weaknesses, such as someone can see your PIN or steal it through fishing. Biometric authentication almost eliminates these risks, as every person has a fingerprint and face different.
