Stones fell on a bus full of passengers in Himachal Pradesh, 18 people died, PM Modi expressed condolences

On Tuesday, October 7, a passenger bus was hit by a landslide in the Janduta area of ​​Bilaspur district of Himachal Pradesh, in which many people died. At the time of the incident, there were about 30 people in the bus, when heavy debris and rocks fell on the bus by slipping from the mountain. According to local officials, 18 people have been confirmed in the accident so far and many others are seriously injured. Relief and rescue operations were immediately started and NDRF and local rescue teams reached the spot to evacuate passengers trapped in the debris. The injured have been admitted to nearby hospitals, some of whom have been stated to be critical.

PM Modi expressed condolences

Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed condolences to this tragic accident and announced financial assistance of Rs 2 lakh to each from the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund (PMNRF) for the families of the deceased and Rs 50,000 to the injured. Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu and Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri also expressed deep grief over the accident and directed to expedite the rescue work. President Draupadi Murmu expressed his heartfelt condolences to the affected families and prayed for the early recovery of the injured. Union Home Minister Amit Shah also expressed grief over the seriousness of the accident and appreciated the activism of the rescue parties.

Natural disasters like landslides are common in the hilly areas of Himachal Pradesh and especially heavy rains or in unstable weather, they put traffic and life in serious threats. District administration and police officers have coordinated in relief and rescue work, along with removal of debris, work is going on to ensure safe movement of other vehicles on the route. The investigation of the actual conditions of landslides is also likely to start soon.

Meanwhile, a private bus got down from the road in Palampur in Kangra district, in which six passengers were injured. He was immediately admitted to the Civil Hospital in Palampur and an investigation into the cause of the accident has been started. Both events have re -exposed the need for safe transportation and vigilance towards natural disasters in the mountainous regions of Himachal Pradesh.
