In a world where fame often overshadows companionship Shah Rukh Khan still calls Gauri Khan the anchor of his life. “Without her I am nothing” the superstar has often confessed. The man who rules millions of hearts has room for just one queen and that’s Gauri. As she celebrates her 54th birthday on October 8 it’s not just another milestone for Mrs Khan but a reminder of the quiet empire she’s built behind the camera. Who has she designed for? While Gauri never sought the limelight her creative flair speaks through walls and interiors that reflect luxury and warmth. Over the years she has become one of Bollywood’s most sought-after interior designers. From Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt’s dreamy home to their vanity van from Karan Johar’s stylish duplex terrace to the personal spaces of Jacqueline Fernandez Hrithik Roshan and Madhuri Dixit her work is everywhere. And of course her signature project remains Mannat the iconic Khan residence that’s as famous as the man who lives in it. How did Gauri step into production?Beyond design Gauri is also a creative force in cinema. Alongside Shah Rukh she runs Red Chillies Entertainment one of Bollywood’s most successful production houses. Since its inception in 2002 the banner has delivered multiple hits including Main Hoon Na Om Shanti Om Chennai Express Dear Zindagi Happy New Year My Name Is Khan Jawan and the upcoming Dunki. Each of these projects reflects not only SRK’s charisma but Gauri’s sharp business sense and vision. When did it all begin? Before Red Chillies Entertainment Gauri co-founded Dreamz Unlimited a production company that marked the couple’s first step into filmmaking. By 2002 the two rebranded and expanded into the powerhouse that now stands tall in Indian cinema. Apart from films Gauri also invests in luxury properties and remains deeply involved in design ventures across India and abroad. How did their love story begin?Their love story sounds straight out of a Bollywood script. Gauri was just 14 when she met 19-year-old Shah Rukh for the first time. “It was love at first sight” SRK once admitted. Coming from a well-settled and traditional family Gauri wasn’t easy to win over. The couple’s early days were marked by secrecy and teenage thrill so much so that Gauri saved Shah Rukh’s name in her phone as Shahina to keep things hidden from her family. Was SRK always this possessive? In one of his old interviews Shah Rukh candidly shared how possessive he used to be about Gauri. “I didn’t like her wearing a swimsuit or leaving her hair open because I didn’t want anyone else looking at her” he had confessed with a laugh. It was youthful jealousy that eventually turned into a lifetime of deep love respect and partnership. From building an empire with Red Chillies Entertainment to redefining luxury living with her interior designs Gauri Khan is more than Shah Rukh Khan’s wife; she’s the architect of her own destiny. Her quiet strength and creative brilliance continue to shape Bollywood’s aesthetic both on-screen and off it. Highlights: Gauri Khan celebrates her 54th birthday on October 8. She designed homes for top Bollywood stars including Ranbir Alia and Hrithik. Along with Shah Rukh she co-founded Red Chillies Entertainment in 2002.
