Diwali and Chhath celebrations in Bihar

Diwali celebration in Bihar is something special. This time Bihar government has declared 6 to 7 days holidays for Diwali. These holidays will start from October 18 (Saturday) and continue till October 23. That means schools, colleges and government offices will remain closed for 6 full days. After this, there will be 2 days holidays for Chhath Puja on 27th and 28th October, because Chhath festival is very special in Bihar. In this way, people of Bihar will be able to enjoy the long weekend on the occasion of Diwali and Chhath.

When and how will Diwali be celebrated?

This time Diwali will be celebrated with great pomp across the country on 21 October 2025. In some places, people will start celebrating Diwali from October 20 itself. After this, there will be Govardhan Puja on 22nd October and the festival of Bhai Dooj on 23rd October. Since October 19 is a Sunday, students in most states will get 5 consecutive days of holidays. In some states, there may be holidays of 5 to 7 days due to local holidays.
