How much did the US spend on Israel’s war on Gaza since October 2023? New report reveals staggering numbers

Since October 2023, the United States has spent over $31 billion on Israel’s war on Gaza and related military operations across the region.

Between October 2023 and September 2025, about $21.7 billion went into directly funding Israel and an additional $9.65-12.07 billion went into US operations in Yemen and Iran and the wider region, according to the Brown University Costs of War project.

This figure excludes the tens of billions of dollars in arms sales agreements that have been committed for weapons and services that will be paid for and delivered in the coming years. It highlights Washington’s central role in sustaining the war and escalation in the wider region.

Israel’s entire inventory of combat capable aircraft comes from the U.S., including 75 F-15s, 196 F-16s, and 39 F-35s. Israel’s attack and transport helicopters are also all of U.S. origin, including 46 Apache helicopters and 25 Sea Stallion and 49 Black Hawk transport helicopters. Israel’s U.S.-supplied weapons – which include not only its combat aircraft but also tens of thousands of bombs and missiles, and advanced targeting systems – have inflicted a devastating humanitarian toll on the people of Gaza, the report said.

Hundreds of thousands of casualties, millions displaced:

Over 10 percent of the population of Gaza has been directly killed or injured and approximately 80 percent of the deaths have been civilians, the report notes.

The military operations in Gaza and the wider region led to the displacement of over 5.2 million people including in Iran, Lebanon, West Bank and others. At least 17,000 people were killed or injured in Lebanon.

Recent analysis by public health experts suggests that the number of fatalities reported by the Gaza Ministry of Health, which faces many obstacles to making a full account of deaths, maybe a significant undercount of violent deaths, the report reads.
