Before the chants the mist and the myth came alive in Kantara Chapter 1 there was a woman quietly weaving threads of tradition colour and emotion into the fabric of its world Pragathi Shetty the wife of actor-filmmaker Rishab Shetty. While Rishab helmed the film’s vision Pragathi worked behind the scenes as the costume designer shaping the visual soul of the story. Her creative inputs brought authenticity to every frame from earthy fabrics to the regal designs that defined the film’s mythological tone. Yet her biggest contribution wasn’t just artistic; it was deeply personal. Did you know she also appeared on screen? After the film’s release eagle-eyed fans were quick to spot Pragathi in a blink-and-miss cameo during the chariot scene in the first half. Interestingly this isn’t her first time facing the camera. She also appeared briefly in Kantara (2022) where she played the king’s wife. Their son Ranvit too shared screen space with his parents in Kantara Chapter 1 marking the Shetty family’s rare collective appearance in the franchise. What does Rishab say about her role in his success? In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter India Rishab spoke warmly about his wife’s role in his journey. “She’s a big support” he said. “Whenever I left for shooting her prayers would begin. If it weren’t for Pragathi my wife I wouldn’t have been able to finish this film.” Known fondly as Sandalwood’s “power couple” Rishab and Pragathi balance fame with family creating both cinema and stability together. How did their love story begin? Their story reads like a script from one of Rishab’s own films heartwarming yet real. The two first met at a film event and reconnected a few weeks later on Facebook. What started as casual chats soon blossomed into love. However their relationship wasn’t without hurdles. Pragathi’s parents initially resisted the match since Rishab hadn’t achieved success in films at the time. But their determination and love eventually won everyone over. The couple tied the knot in 2017. From love to legacy: a family that creates together The Shettys welcomed their first child Ranvit in 2019 followed by their daughter Radhya in 2022. Despite parenting and professional commitments Pragathi continued to shape her creative path. Her journey as a costume designer began with Bell Bottom (2019) where she collaborated with Rishab for the first time. She went on to design for Kantara (2022) and now Kantara Chapter 1 cementing her place as a quiet creative force in the Kannada film industry. While Rishab continues to draw headlines with his on-screen brilliance Pragathi stands firmly behind a symbol of patience artistry and strength. Together they’re redefining what it means to be partners in both life and cinema balancing fame family and faith with grace. Highlights: Pragathi Shetty designed costumes for Kantara Chapter 1 and appeared in a short cameo. Rishab credits his wife’s prayers and support for the film’s completion. The couple married since 2017 continue to collaborate on creative projects.
