Who is Sridhar Vambu?

Sridhar Vambu, who was born in 1968, is the famous industrialist of India and the founder of Zoho Corporation. He is the 39th richest person in India in the 2024 list of Forbes, whose total assets are about 5.85 billion dollars (about Rs 50,000 crore). He was awarded the Padma Shri Award in 2021 by the Government of India.

From simple start to billions of company

Vambu was born in a small Brahmin family in Thanjavur district of Tamil Nadu. He studied electrical engineering from IIT Madras and then earned a Masters and PhD from Princeton University in America. His career started as a wireless engineer in Qualcomm. He later worked in San Francisco Bay Area and started a company called Adventnet with his brothers in 1996, which was later named Zoho Corporation. Today this company is known worldwide for cloud software and CRM solutions.

New life settled in village

In 2019, Vambu took a big decision. He decided to leave the life of Chennai and America and settle in Tenkasi village in Tamil Nadu. They now run their business from there. He believes that technology and development of the village should be run together. Today, Vambu has 88% stake in Zoho and his assets have more than doubled in a few years. His story proves that happiness comes not by money or facilities, but from thinking and perspective.
