Swift and Kelce made headlines on Aug. 26 when they announced their engagement through a post on Instagram. The post shows Kelce proposed to Swift in a romantic setting at his home, surrounded by a stunning floral display.

Swift went on to share that when it came time to spread the good news, she considered those she had texted over the previous month. However, English singer-songwriter Sheeran, who doesn’t have a phone, “just wasn’t there,” she said.

“This [Sheeran] is one of my absolute favourite people on the planet, and when the news came out, I was like, ‘Oh my god! We forgot to call Ed!’” she said.

People magazine reported that in a previous interview, Sheeran revealed that he learned of Swift and Kelce’s engagement via Instagram, and noted that at the time, he hadn’t received a “save-the-date” for the wedding either.

Swift, 36, and Sheeran, 34, have been close friends for over a decade, having met in 2012. They have collaborated on multiple tracks, with Swift often describing Sheeran as a “second brother.”
