Indian Railways: Indian Railways is soon going to make big changes to increase the convenience of passengers. Under this new rule, passengers will be able to change the travel date of their confirmed ticket without any cancellation charge. This new rule will benefit millions of passengers whose travel plans suddenly change. Talking to the media, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav has confirmed the change.

What is the new rule?

Currently, if you have to change the date of your journey, you have to cancel the earlier ticket and then book a new ticket for the new date. This process involves heavy cancellation charges and there is no guarantee of getting a confirmed ticket again. Passengers will be able to change the journey date of their confirmed e-ticket online. There will be no fine or penalty for changing the date. Passengers will not need to cancel tickets, which will save their money and time.

Whether a confirmed seat will be available even after changing the date will completely depend on the availability of seats. If the seat is not vacant on the new date, your ticket may go to the waiting list. If the ticket fare is higher on the new date, the passenger will have to pay only the difference in fare. No additional penalty will be imposed.

When can it be implemented?

No official date has been announced yet for the implementation of this rule. But it is being said that this new facility can be implemented from January 2026. Therefore, passengers will have to wait for the official announcement. But Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav, while talking to the media, has said that it will be implemented by January.
