British Airways will add a third daily flight between London Heathrow and Delhi in 2026, pending regulatory and capacity approvals, as part of its plan to expand operations in India.

The announcement came during the UK government’s “Britain Means Business” trade mission to India, led by Prime Minister Keir Starmer.

The airline will also reintroduce its First cabin on Mumbai flights this month and deploy its latest Club Suite business class on all five Indian routes by the end of 2026.

British Airways CEO Sean Doyle said the carrier sees strong growth potential in India as trade and travel ties deepen. “We currently operate 56 direct flights a week to five Indian cities. The Free Trade Agreement between the UK and India supports our plans to grow alongside rising economic activity,” he said.

British Airways has been flying to India for more than 100 years and employs around 2,500 people in the country. It recently launched a free Meet and Assist service at Indian airports for passengers needing extra help, used by over 5,500 customers since March.

The airline is investing £7 billion in upgrades, including new seats, free Wi-Fi messaging, and lounge refurbishments across its global network. It currently serves Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chennai, and Hyderabad.
