News India Live, Digital Desk: Ever since the change of captaincy in Team India, there was a strange silence in the atmosphere. Rohit Sharma was removed from the ODI captaincy and Shubman Gill was made the new captain. Everyone wanted to know what the ‘Hitman’ was thinking about this. Now, finally Rohit has broken his silence on this decision and has given a statement which shows what is going on in his heart. Gambhir’s name was not taken, Dravid’s support was taken. When Rohit Sharma was asked about the future, he expressed his desire to play in the Champions Trophy 2025. But he attributed the reason behind this not to new coach Gautam Gambhir but to former coach Rahul Dravid. Rohit revealed, “To be honest, Rahul (Dravid) bhai sat down and talked to me. He told me that the team will need your experience a lot in the Champions Trophy.” This statement says a lot in itself. After being removed from the captaincy, it was Rahul Dravid who convinced Rohit to continue playing for the team. Rohit told that Dravid explained to him how important it is for him to be in the team, especially when there are many young players in the team. “I am not going to sit quietly.” Rohit Sharma also made it clear that he is not going to sit quietly just by being a part of the team. He said, “I am not someone who just sits quietly. I am not one to sit quietly and I feel that the team also needs me.” His statement shows that there is pain in losing the captaincy, but the player inside him is still alive and ready to fight. He said that he is preparing hard for the Champions Trophy and wants to give his best performance. Interestingly, while the whole world is talking about the ‘Gautam Gambhir era’ in Team India, Rohit Sharma has credited Rahul Dravid for supporting him in his toughest times. This story shows how deep are the relationships between players inside the dressing room, which matter more than the glamor of the outside world.
