NEW DELHI: Prithvi Shaw’s troubles do not seem to have eased, as the Mumbai Cricket Association and the Maharashtra Cricket Association took note of an incident after reports suggested that he swung his bat at. Mumbai’s Musheer Khan during the opening day of their three-day practice match at the MCA Stadium in Gahunje on Tuesday.
Former India captain Dilip Vengsarkar has been tasked with overseeing the probe.
“There will be a (Mumbai Ranji team) selection committee meeting on Thursday, so we will ask the Mumbai captain, coach, and the player about what happened,” Mumbai Cricket Association secretary Abhay. Hadap told mid-day.
“We will be getting a report of this incident during our selection committee meeting, and former India captain Dilip Vengsarkar, who is our advisor, will speak to the players.”
The Maharashtra Cricket Association will follow a similar approach.
“I’m still awaiting the report on the incident. I will be obtaining detailed information about it, and if something is found, depending on the gravity of the situation and considering the importance of discipline, we will speak to both players (Shaw and Musheer). Discipline among players is a very important aspect,” said Adv Kamlesh Pisal, secretary of the Maharashtra Cricket Association.
Shaw smashed his way to a magnificent 181 while playing for Maharashtra in a three-day practice match against his former team Mumbai ahead of the upcoming Ranji Trophy season.
Shaw was on track for a brilliant double century but fell short of the milestone. As he made his way back to the pavilion, tensions flared, and Shaw lost his temper with some of his former teammates.
A video circulating online shows Shaw engaged in a heated confrontation with several players, seemingly triggered by a comment from Musheer Khan that provoked the former DC opener. The situation escalated until the umpires stepped in and separated the players, restoring order on the field.
