To deal with the crowds during Diwali and Chhath, the Railway administration has made major changes at New Delhi Railway Station. As part of this, the platforms for 13 trains have been changed until October 30th. The sale of platform tickets has also been suspended until October 28th. This step has been taken for passenger convenience and crowd control.
Railway Prepares for Crowd Management
New Delhi Railway Station sees its biggest crowds every year during festivals like Diwali and Chhath. Therefore, the Railways have taken important precautionary measures to deal with any emergency. According to railway officials, this decision has been taken to maintain smooth passenger movement on the platforms and prevent chaos.
Focus on Crowded Platforms
Officials stated that numerous trains depart from platforms 12, 13, 14, and 15 at the same time, causing significant inconvenience to both passengers and railway employees. Platforms 12, 13, and 14, 15 are located on either side of the same platform, creating significant congestion. To alleviate this, the platforms for 13 trains have been reassigned.
Railway Appeal to Passengers
Railway authorities have urged passengers to check their train's platform information before traveling. Railway officials say this temporary change has been made to ensure crowd control and safety. This will provide a better passenger experience during the festive season.

Platform tickets will not be available at major Delhi stations
In another temporary arrangement, in keeping with the festivals, platform ticket sales will be suspended from October 15 to 28 at Delhi's major railway stations: New Delhi, Old Delhi, Anand Vihar, Nizamuddin, and Ghaziabad Junction. The Railways stated that this decision was taken to control crowds and strengthen security.
