Breast cancer cases are increasing rapidly across the country. However, despite this, there is still a lack of awareness about this cancer. Early detection of breast cancer can save a precious life. By knowing the symptoms of this cancer, women can get timely treatment and get medical help before it is too late. Dr. Madhulika Singh, senior obstetrician and gynecologist at Ankura Hospital for Women and Children, Pune, has given detailed information about this. Breast cancer is the most common. Breast cancer is one of the most common cancers in women across the world. When abnormal cells grow uncontrolled in the breast, a lump forms and cancer begins. Although the exact cause is unknown, factors such as age, genetics, hormonal changes, unhealthy lifestyle, obesity and radiation exposure can increase the risk. Early diagnosis plays an important role in successful treatment and recovery, hence it is very important to recognize the early symptoms. Ignoring the symptoms due to lack of awareness. Women are not very aware about the symptoms of this cancer and hence ignore it. Women should take responsibility for their breast health and report any unusual changes to their doctor immediately. If diagnosis is delayed, breast cancer may spread to nearby lymph nodes or other organs in the body, such as the lungs, bones, or liver. This can cause symptoms like fatigue, severe pain, and even depression. This can affect the quality of life of the woman. Additionally, in severe cases, surgery, chemotherapy or radiation therapy may also be required. If you experience these symptoms, do not ignore them. Lump in the breast or armpit: This is the most common and early symptom and is often painless, but can be felt when touched. Therefore, do not ignore this symptom. Change in breast shape: If one breast looks larger or uneven than the other, it could be breast cancer. Do not ignore it at all. Nipple discharge: If any kind of abnormal discharge is found, medical advice should be sought immediately. Skin changes: Redness, rash or thickening of the breast skin like an orange peel can be a sign of cancer. Inverted nipples: If the nipples start turning inwards or look different, it can be a sign of an underlying problem. Pain or Swelling: Persistent pain or swelling in the breast or armpit that does not go down requires medical attention. Women should do regular breast self-examinations every month and have regular medical breast examinations every year, especially after the age of forty. Women should undergo breast examination every year and seek timely treatment if any of the above symptoms appear.
