Despite Bangladesh’s four-wicket loss to England, there were plenty of encouraging signs for the Tigresses. Sobhana Mostary played a fluent knock of 60 runs, while Rubeya Khan’s 43* in the lower order added depth and resilience to the innings.

Reflecting on the performance and the team’s mindset, Nahida Akter remained upbeat, emphasising that the focus remains on building from the positives.

“In the last match in Colombo, we played really good cricket. As a bowling department, we did really well, so our focus will be the same. Our batters are also doing good. Yes, we are thinking of plans about how we are going to play our next match, and we are preparing for it,” Nahida said.

The spinner also shared an update on Marufa Akter’s fitness, expressing hope that she would be available for the next game. “I hope that Marufa Akter is fit and can play the next match and be ready.”

When asked about Bangladesh’s batting order, Nahida explained that the decisions depend on team management but praised the depth in the lineup.

“It depends upon the management on what number who will be playing. I think our lower order is capable, and Rubeya has played some good innings. She has that ability, so I’m hoping for the best.”

Nahida expressed strong faith in the team’s batting group, stressing that one off day doesn’t define their quality.

“I believe my team has good batters; they are really good. Maybe we have not performed well in one match, but we have more matches ahead, and I hope to see a comeback.”

Looking ahead to their next match against New Zealand, Nahida said the team’s mindset centred on collective improvement and planning, “As a team, we think about how we can perform in the next match.”

She also reflected on the batting effort against England, acknowledging areas that need improvement. She said, “We had a few collapses early, and I think we played a lot of dot balls. After that, Sobhana played really well. We might have collapsed at a few places, but we are working on it, and I know our batters will do great in the next matches.”
