Nitish Reddy was in searing pain, but cricket fans did not complain during the second day of the second Test against the West Indies in Delhi.
After attempting a quick single, the Indian all-rounder got hit on his left foot by a full-blooded throw before the ball sailed to the boundary rope. ‌India continued to dominate the West Indies at the start of day two at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. The home side began proceedings at 318/2 before an unfortunate mix-up saw Yashasvi Jaiswal miss out on a deserving double-hundred.Once the Indian opener walked back after making 175, Nitish Reddy joined captain Shubman Gill in the middle to accelerate proceedings. The pair started well, adding 37 runs in 47 balls before an unlikely incident had the viewers in splits. After guiding Jayden Seales between gully and point for a boundary in the first ball of the 100th over, Reddy dabbed the ball to wide mid-on with soft hands for a quick single. Tagenarine Chaderpaul rushed in to collect the ball before letting off a full-blodded sidearm throw. The all-rounder was quick and easily made his ground, but the throw crashed onto his left foot as he crossed the wickets. He was hit on the bony part and started limping as he returned to the bowling crease. The contact was so hard that the ball sailed to the boundary, and four overthrow runs were added to Reddy's and India's kitty. He gave memories of the Rishabh Pant injury and was seen massaging the area where he had taken a hit. Twitter was confused whether to be happy with India getting the extra runs or to be sad after the batter took a painful blow. 5 Runs!
