Whenever it comes to air pollution, our attention goes only to the smoke from the roads and factories outside. But do you know that the air inside our homes can be even more polluted than outside? Closed rooms, paint, cleaning products and dust particles together make the indoor air extremely harmful for our children. Children’s immune system is delicate and this polluted air can cause allergies, asthma and many respiratory diseases in them.
But don’t panic! You don’t need to spend money on expensive air purifiers. You can make the air in your home clean and safe for your children with some very easy and effective home remedies.
1. Open up the ‘lungs’ of the home: cross-ventilation
The easiest and most important rule is to open the windows and doors of the house. Allow cross-ventilation in the house for at least 15-20 minutes a day. By doing this, the polluted air inside the house goes out and fresh air comes inside. It also eliminates moisture and germs accumulated in the house.
2. Install ‘Natural Air Purifier’ in the house
Some plants not only enhance the beauty of the house, but also act as natural filters that clean the air. These plants absorb harmful chemicals like carbon dioxide and formaldehyde from the air.
3. Say ‘no’ to chemical cleaners
Most of the floor cleaners and bathroom cleaners available in the market contain strong chemicals, which dissolve in the air and reach our lungs.
4. Essential oil, not chemicals, for fragrance
Chemical air fresheners give a pleasant fragrance for some time, but the chemicals present in them make the air more poisonous.
5. Choose the right candle
If you burn candles at home, avoid regular paraffin wax candles as they release harmful substances into the air when they burn.
By incorporating these small changes into your daily routine, you can make your home a safe and healthy home for your children.
