Police has taken action regarding Aadhaar fraud in Sahibganj district. During the investigation of the laptop recovered from the two youths who were caught from Soti Chowki Pangdo of Jirwabari police station area on Friday evening, an Assam ID was found in it, through which Aadhaar was being created by tampering with the original document.

During investigation, evidence has been found of 22 people creating Aadhaar on backdate. After this, the Deputy Commissioner has instructed the UID officer to send the recovered Aadhaar to the state headquarters of UID for investigation.

On the other hand, Rajdev Oraon, resident of Sakrigali Pattabari of Taljhari police station area and Monu Kumar Chaudhary, resident of Sotichowki Pangdo of Jirwabari police station area, who were caught by the police, have been sent to jail and have started investigating the matter seriously. The responsibility of investigating this case has been given to Police Inspector Nunudev Rai of Borio Division.

Five districts of the state, including infiltration-affected Sahibganj-Pakur, have become the base for more people than the estimated population. By October 2024, the estimated population of Sahibganj district was 13 lakh 92 thousand 393 but a base of 14 lakh 53 thousand 634 people had been formed here.

When the investigation started on the instructions of Deputy Commissioner Hemant Sati, it was found that a large number of Aadhar cards were being made from outside IDs.

After this the administration started keeping an eye on the Aadhaar centres. On Friday, UID officer Sandeep Kumar got information that Aadhaar was being created fraudulently in the customer service center of Menu Kumar Chaudhary located in Soti Chowki Pangdo. Sandeep Kumar went there and investigated and asked Monu Kumar Choudhary for the authorization letter for construction of Aadhaar, but he could not give it.

After this, the police caught Monu Kumar Chaudhary and Rajdev Oraon who was working there and brought them to the police station. When his laptop was examined, it was found that it had an Assam ID. During investigation, evidence of Aadhaar being created by tampering with documents was also found.

After this, both the accused were sent to jail on Saturday. If sources are to be believed, many more such Aadhaar centers are running in the district where Aadhaar is made by tampering with the documents. It is said that a few days ago, the district administration had sent a laptop for testing, the report of which has not come yet. There is no complete system of Aadhaar verification in the district. This also creates problems in investigation.
