Aahana Kumra recently addressed her clashes with Dhanashree Verma on Rise and Fall in an interview with The Free Press Journal. She claimed the conflict arose in part because she “had no idea who Dhanashree was” beyond her being married to cricketer Yuzvendra Chahal. Aahana said “First and foremost knowing somebody for a week does not mean you know that person. I have absolutely no idea who she is. I only knew her because of her marriage... In the first week of knowing her I never once spoke about her marriage. Not once. I was disinterested. I am not interested in her personal life.” Did Aahana avoid the topic of Dhanashree’s marriage deliberately? According to Aahana yes. She said she believed that perhaps Dhanashree was ready to move on to “start a new chapter” of her life so Aahana purposely refrained from mentioning aspects of Dhanashree’s personal life especially her divorce. She asserted she didn’t label her or treat her as a victim. She added “I come from a space where as a woman I feel that maybe this person wants to move on and start a new chapter of their life. So I never once spoke about her life... In fact because she kept mentioning it I didn’t want to talk about it. And I never labelled her at all.” What did Dhanashree claim and how did Yuzvendra respond? On Rise and Fall Dhanashree Verma stated that she discovered Yuzvendra Chahal cheated on her within two months of their marriage. This triggered a strong response from him. He declared “I am a sportsperson and I do not cheat. Agar koi two months mein hi cheat karta toh itna lamba relationship chalta kya?... For me this chapter is over done and dusted. I have moved forward with my life and everyone else should do too.” He also criticised those who continue to dwell on the past saying that although their home is still being discussed in his name he himself has moved on.
