Bollywood’s most glittering night, the 70th Filmfare Awards 2025, was held with great pomp and show on the soil of Gujarat, in Ahmedabad. Best Film (Missing Ladies), Best Director (Kiran Rao), Best Supporting Actor (Ravi Kishan) Best Actress (Critic) (Pratibha Ranta) Apart from this, the film won many awards like Best Music Album, Best Lyrics, Best Screenplay, Best Dialogue, Best Costume, Best Background Score, Best Female Debut and Best Playback Singer. They also won awards in various categories, making the evening a ‘missing ladies’ affair.

Abhishek Bachchan and Kartik Aryan became best actors
This time, an interesting twist was seen in the Best Actor Award, Abhishek Bachchan was jointly honored for his emotional drama film ‘I Want to Talk’ and Kartik Aryan was jointly honored for the sports-biopic ‘Chandu Champion’. Both of them made this moment memorable by hugging each other on the stage. Whereas ‘Kill’ registered a strong victory in the categories of Best Debut Male (Lakshya Lalwani), Best Action, Best Editing and Best Sound Design. ‘Munjya’ won Best VFX, while ‘I Want to Talk’ won Best Film (Critics) and Best Adapted Screenplay.

Alia Bhatt’s acting got respect
Alia Bhatt won the title of Best Actress for the film ‘Jigra’. Even though the film did not perform well at the box office, Alia’s strong acting earned her this honour. Rajkumar Rao received the Best Actor (Critic) award for the film ‘Srikanth’. Among debutant directors, Kunal Khemu (Madgaon Express) and Aditya Suhas Jambhale (Article 370) were honoured.

Lifetime Achievement and Cine Icon Awards
This time Zeenat Aman and Shyam Benegal were honored with the Life Time Achievement Award. The Cine Icon Award was dedicated to the great actors of Indian cinema, Nutan, Meena Kumari, Kajol, Sridevi, Jaya Bachchan, Amitabh Bachchan, Bimal Roy, Shahrukh Khan, Karan Johar and Ramesh Sippy (Sholay).

Music and dance festival
The Best Choreography award went to Bosco-Caesar for the superhit song ‘Tauba Tauba’ from ‘Bad News’. Madhubanti Bagchi became the best female playback singer, who won the hearts of the audience with the song ‘Aaj Ki Raat’ from ‘Stree 2’. Overall, the 70th Filmfare Awards 2025 was not just an event, but it became a celebration of the grandeur, diversity and emotion of Indian cinema.
