The Jumanji adventure is officially returning, as Sony Pictures prepares to begin production on its next installment this November. The highly anticipated sequel will bring back the iconic team of Dwayne Johnson, Kevin Hart, Jack Black, and Karen Gillan for another action-filled journey into the game’s mysterious world.

Director Jake Kasdan, who successfully led Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle (2017) and Jumanji: The Next Level (2019), will once again take the director’s chair. The film’s script has been written by Jeff Pinkner and Scott Rosenberg, the same writers who helped revive the franchise. The new movie is expected to hit cinemas on December 11, 2026.

While plot details are being kept secret, the movie promises to continue the adventurous and humorous spirit that made the previous installments global hits.

New faces will join the franchise this time. Rising star Brittany O’Grady, best known for The White Lotus, will make her debut in the Jumanji world. Also joining the cast is Burn Gorman, recognized for his performances in Beetlejuice Beetlejuice and The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes.

The returning cast is also expected to include Alex Wolff, Madison Iseman, Ser’Darius Blaine, and Morgan Turner, who play the real-world teens behind the game avatars. Awkwafina, who appeared in The Next Level, is also likely to return. However, there is no official confirmation yet about Nick Jonas, who played a key role in the previous two films.

The Jumanji franchise has come a long way since its beginning. It was originally inspired by Chris Van Allsburg’s 1981 picture book and brought to life in the 1995 classic starring Robin Williams. The modern reboot in 2017 gave the story a fresh twist — turning the magical board game into a video game that transports players into their chosen avatars.
