The organizers of the “Em Xinh Say Hi” concert have apologized after a fireworks mishap sent sparks shooting into the crowd during a show at My Dinh Stadium in Hanoi on Saturday night.

The incident happened around 11 p.m. when a firework burst went off in the wrong direction, shooting toward the audience and causing panic among spectators. It is still unknown whether anyone was injured.

On Sunday morning, a representative for the organizing team said they were “deeply sorry for the unexpected incident” and had acted quickly to address the situation.

“We have promptly coordinated to handle the issue and will continue to monitor it to ensure the best experience for our audience,” it said. No further details were provided.

The mishap comes just weeks after a September concert in Ho Chi Minh City, where stage scaffolding briefly caught fire, reportedly due to fireworks. A similar problem also occurred during the ‘Anh Trai Say Hi’ concert at My Dinh in 2024, though no one was hurt. The repeated incidents have sparked public concern over concert safety standards in Vietnam.

The “Em Xinh Say Hi” concert featured 30 female artists and lasted more than four hours, showcasing singers from the hit reality show of the same name, including Phuong My Chi, Phuong Linh, and 52Hz.

The reality show, launched in May 2025, sought to discover Vietnam’s next generation of female music idols. Contestants competed in groups over 14 episodes, with Phuong My Chi crowned champion and Lyhan finishing runner-up.

Organizers said the show has become one of the most successful music programs of the year, amassing over 22 billion views and listens across digital platforms and topping YouTube Vietnam’s trending chart for 13 consecutive weeks with multiple viral performances.
