New Delhi: Artificial Intelligence (AI) is not a technology to fire employees but to help them. This is what Google Cloud CEO Thomas Kurian has to say. He said that the purpose of AI is to assist workers in their work and increase their production, not to fire them. Earlier, Google CEO Sundar Pichai had also given his opinion regarding AI. He had said that AI has made Google engineers 10% more productive.
Thomas Kurian cited the example of Google’s AI-powered customer engagement suite and argued that this technology has not prompted any client to lay off employees. Rather, this platform helps service teams to answer questions faster, which improves the customer experience. Kurian said that when this technology was first launched, people had expressed fear that it might put employees’ jobs at risk, but that did not happen.
