Ahoi Mata is considered to be the incarnation of Goddess Parvati. Ahoi Mata is worshiped especially for the protection and longevity of children. She is known as the protector goddess of children, who bestows blessings of happiness, prosperity and protection of children. According to some beliefs, Ahoi Mata is also considered a form of Goddess Lakshmi. Ahoi Mata is also known as Syahu Mata. There is a religious belief that by worshiping Ahoi Mata, women's problems related to infertility, abortion, untimely death of children and evil children are solved.
Why is Ahoi Ashtami fast observed?
According to a legend, once a woman unknowingly killed the babies of a porcupine (mongoose), after which she sought forgiveness from the goddess. The goddess was pleased and blessed him that his child would be safe. Since then, the fast of Ahoi Ashtami is observed for the welfare of the children.
How to worship Ahoi Mata?
Wake up early in the morning, take bath, wear clean clothes and offer water to the Sun God.

Keep roli, rice, kumkum, garland, fruits, sweets etc. in the puja thali.

Perform Ahoi Mata Aarti and listen to the fast story of Ahoi Ashtami.

Break the fast only after offering Arghya to the stars.
Donate the makeup items offered during puja to your mother-in-law or any elderly woman in the house.
