The noise and excitement of Diwali cleaning is echoing in every house! Curtains are being washed, sofas are being arranged, and every corner of the house is being polished. But in all this hustle and bustle, there is one part of the house on which our eyes often fall last – our stairs!
Imagine, how many times a day do we climb up and down these? Mud, dust and many small stains from shoes and slippers leave their mark on them. When guests come home, these will be the first thing they look at. So don’t worry, today we will tell you such easy ways to clean the stairs that they will also sparkle in the lights of Diwali.
Pre-cleaning preparation (just 5 minutes of work)
Before starting the actual cleaning, the first thing to do is dry cleaning.
- Take a good broom and thoroughly remove all the dust and hair accumulated at the top and corners of each step. Pay special attention to the corners, where the most dust hides.
- Now collect your things in one place, so that you do not have to run again and again: a bucket, a mop, some good cleaning liquid, a sponge or two and some clean dry clothes.
Now let’s start the work of bringing the real shine!
- Prepare the solution in the bucket: Take lukewarm water in a bucket (warm water removes dirt quickly) and dissolve a little amount of mild detergent or floor cleaner in it.
- Correct way of mopping: Now dip the wipe or sponge in this water and squeeze it well. Keep one thing in mind: If your stairs Wood If you have, then use water sparingly. Just make sure that the mop is moist, not wet, otherwise the wood may get damaged. if stairs marble or tiles If you have water, you can use a little more water.
- Don’t forget the corners: While mopping, clean the corners of the stairs thoroughly. If you want, you can also use an old toothbrush to remove the dirt stuck in the corners.
What to do with stubborn stains and shoe marks?
Often there are some stains on the stairs which do not go away just by wiping.
- For this, apply any good stain-remover available in the market or a paste of a little baking soda and water on a sponge.
- Now rub this sponge slowly on the stained area.
- Don’t forget to wipe the stain with a clean, dry cloth as soon as it is removed. This will dry the stairs quickly and also bring shine to them.
The last and most important task: cleaning the railing
Along with stairs, it is equally important to clean the railings. Our hands touch it a hundred times a day, due to which it becomes sticky and dirty.
- Mix water and a little cleaner in a spray bottle and spray it on the railing. Then wipe thoroughly with a clean cloth.
- If the railing is wooden, instead of spraying water on it, use a slightly damp cloth and wipe it.
With these simple steps, your stairs will shine to welcome guests this Diwali.
